Is a Full Size Mattress Right for You?

Many parents choose a full size mattress as a step up for their kids because they can grow into the mattress and continue to use it throughout their teenage years. The extra space is also great if you plan on cuddling up with them to read a good book.

Full size mattresses can also be used in a spare bedroom or guest room. However, at only 54 inches wide they are typically best for a single adult sleeper. Couples trying to sleep on a full mattress would have about the same amount of sleeping space per person as a crib mattress.

Need help choosing the best mattress size for a growing child? We can show you a range of options and share advice on what factors you should consider based on your needs and budget. Give us a call today at 412-462-7858 to learn more about our youth mattresses.

Is a King Size Mattress Right for You?

Measuring 76 inches wide by 80 inches long, a king size mattress is approximately 16 inches wider than a queen—making it the widest of any of our traditional mattress sizes.

Because of its large size, a king bed might overpower smaller bedrooms or be too bulky to navigate around tight corners or stairs. If you are considering buying a king mattress, we suggest you measure any stairways, hallways, and the bedroom making sure to allow for any other furniture including dressers and side tables. If you think a California King sounds “cool and hip”, it’s actually more narrow than a regular king mattress (only 72″ verses 76″).

Have questions about king beds? Give us a call at 412-462-7858 and speak directly with one of our mattress specialists. We promise we won’t pressure you into buying something you don’t need or a mattress that’s outside of your budget.

Is a Queen Size Mattress Right for You?

If you want to upgrade from a traditional full size mattress but don’t have the room for a king bed or you are budget conscious and looking for an affordable option to increase your sleeping space, a queen size mattress could be the perfect alternative for you.

Queen beds provide couples with approximately 30 inches of horizontal sleeping space each. Sheets and blankets cost less than king bedding and a queen mattress is also a lot easier to move when you want to rearrange your bedroom furniture or change your fitted sheet or bed skirt.

Not sure whether a queen can fit up the stairs to where you have a full size mattress now? Split boxes are also available in all models at a nominal upcharge.

Picking a mattress can be really overwhelming. Let our experienced sales associates help you choose the best mattress based on your individual budget, space, and sleep preferences.

Is a Twin Size Mattress Right for You?

Parents looking for a mattress for a toddler who has outgrown the crib often choose between a toddler bed or a twin mattress which can come in a number of fun designs including cars and castles and one in which a child can grow into. Although a twin mattress costs less up front (bedding, frame, etc.), many parents decide to transition to a full size mattress as their kids enter their teen years.

If you are shopping for a toddler and are concerned the child could roll out of the bed, you can either place the mattress on the floor or on the box spring to keep it lower to the ground or add removable guardrails until your young one is more comfortable with getting in and out of bed.

For single adult sleepers, a twin mattress is usually best if you are limited by space (ex. college dorm room) or trying to stay within a certain budget.

Trying to decide whether a twin mattress is right for a growing child or small bedroom? Give us a call today at (412) 462-7858.

We had a great experience with Robin, the delivery staff, and Sleep Pittsburgh. Called them on a Friday, needed an adjustable bed for my mother getting out of the hospital, but she didn’t want a “hospital bed.” Robin was fantastic with explaining the options, and working with me on an adjustable bed that allowed my mother to keep her existing mattress, and bed frame, but have an adjustable bed that could be installed inside her existing frame. It worked out perfectly, and they installed it on Monday. We couldn’t be happier with our experience with Sleep Pittsburgh, and would recommend them to others. It’s hard to tell from the bed in the picture and without someone in the bed, but it allows her to raise up her back so it is easier to get in and out of bed, and the height adjustment on the frame that was installed allowed us to fit it perfectly to where she can get on and off the bed without needing lifted up.

These are some of the nicest, friendliest people one could ever hope to deal with. Right away when you walk in they make you feel at ease. They know exactly what you need and give you lots of options. I searched high and low at big box stores and and online and nobody came close to their low price. Another great hidden Pittsburgh gem!!

This is the only place I've ever bought a mattress and will always continue to buy there. You get honest information, no pushy sales tactics and they make sure they match a bed to your needs and budget. They know their mattresses so you can be assured you'll get good information, you can take your time trying out the beds- no one will rush you. The prices are the best, free delivery and haul away of your old mattress and the delivery men are the best. No reason to shop for a mattress anywhere else. And they also carry headboards, pillows and lift chairs too!
